I’ve been doing freelance web design for a while now. Which would be fine if I was the type of designer that “created and ran.” However, I’m not that guy - I stick around and help people manage their sites.
Because of this the freelance biz quickly became more of a burden than a fun outlet for me. Wordpress is great - but you still have to feed it, walk it, let it poop and rock it to bed at night…
Not to mention helping clients add new functionality and troubleshoot issues.
Enter ManageWP - My new best friend…
ManageWP is a centralized dashboard that allows you to be logged into every Wordpress website you have at the same time. You can update the Wordpress core files and plugins on all sites at the same time with the click of a button. You can schedule full backups to run and even install new functionality (plugins) right from the dashboard.
My only caution is for those using Dreamhost for your hosting. I love Dreamhost to death - but they sure don’t make it easy to increase the server limits (for those of us that aren’t 100% tech geeks…). Because of this sites that have really large backup files will not backup correctly. Everything else works great - but just not the backup function.
I’m just hoping that someday Dreamhost wakes up and smells the coffee burning :)
Take care of your peeps!
